A Look At Bark Off
Everybody is talking about this new product that has become available recently called Bark Off. It seems that every “review” that is out there is simply another sales pitch for the product, (usually even including a link on where to purchase it) but doesn’t really give any solid information at all.
If this thing is supposed to work so well, how does it work? Why does it work, if it really does work as well as they say? If it does work, why does it work? Maybe it’s just time that you actually found information on how it works. At the very least, you should know how it works to help train your dog. Have you ever noticed how your dog has come to expect certain things at certain times throughout the day?
Dogs are typically creatures of habit. Barking, unfortunately, is a habit they take to very easily. Every once in a while they stumble upon behaviors that produce certain results and then they form a habit of that behavior. For instance, if they know they are to be fed at a certain time, they will go and sit by their bowl at that time, waiting. They see or hear something and they start themselves off on a tirade because that’s what they are used to doing. It is the routine.
You distract them. For instance, if your dog has developed a problem with licking her paws to the point where she has no fur left on them, you can change this behavior by distracting her with a toy each time she begins to lick her paws.
This is basically what the Bark Off system does. By having the device running during the times when you know your dog is prone to unwanted barking, you can nip the behavior in the bud. If you turn the device on during the times when barking is unacceptable, you’ll have the best results. The unit detects a bark and immediately distracts the dog from its behavior by emitting a sound that only a dog can hear. But, if you’ll pardon the pun, the premise for the product is sound.
